ISL staff are highly trained educators and practitioners.

All of our staff have been chosen because:

Our faculty team spends considerable time working and having fun together, establishing its own high performance team, forging high levels of trust, and continuously reflecting and seeking to improve the effectiveness and delivery of our programmes.

Andrew MacFadden

Andrew MacFadden

Andrew is a graduate of the Institute’s Leadership Programme and a member of the coaching team.

Andrew has worked in Australia and New Zealand and brings facilitation, training and coaching expertise to his varied roles in the corporate, social services and not-for-profit sectors. Andrews’s areas of interest include team and personal development, career transition, organisational change and executive productivity.

Andrew is qualified in International business relations and export management, facilitation and is a certified coach. Andrew is passionate about creating lasting change in the lives of others through the delivery of quality programmes which provide meaningful and tangible benefits.

Andrew Norton BA BTheol

Andrew is a graduate of the Institute's Strategic Leadership Programme at Millbrook and a member of the Institute's coaching team and supports participants as a personal and a team coach. Andrew has wide ranging experience in leadership of not for profit organisations.

Andrew has extensive experience in change and people management and coaches others with the tools of strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, team culture, creativity and spirit. He is also accredited in the FIRO-B instrument.


Carolyn Turnbull

Carolyn Turnbull

Carolyn Turnbull is a UK-based member of the Institute's coaching team and supports participants on the leadership programmes offered by ISL. Carolyn specialises in leadership and personal development, team building and stress management. She has extensive experience of leadership development in both the public and private sectors, working with programme participants from across Europe.

Carolyn has experience working with a wide range of diagnostic tools for individual, team and organisational development, including MBTI. She is an accredited coach with Ashridge and the Centre for Excellence in Leadership – UK., and was trained at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (London).

Chris Skellett MSc Clinical Psych, MNZCCP

Chris is a graduate of the Institute's Strategic Leadership Programme at Millbrook and a member of the Institute's leadership coaching team and supports participants both as a personal and as a team coach.

Chris specialises in the areas of team building, stress management, and organisational change. He has extensive experience in the public health sector.

Julie Cummins TTC, Cert Counsellor

Julie is the executive lifestyle coach for the Institute. She has developed a wide range of skills and abilities from her extensive experience in programme design, training and management in a broad range of settings, most particularly in the Health sector. As life style coach, Julie draws on these skills to contribute to the physical, mental and emotional health of individuals, to motivate and support participants to progress and meet their goals.

Julie has tertiary qualifications in both teaching and counseling and has been an accredited MBTI consultant since 1987. Julie is also a qualified fitness leader and personal trainer for Network NZ.


Karen Waitt

Karen Waitt

Karen works with senior executive and executive leadership teams at all levels in public sector and commercial sector organisations. Karen combines a wealth of expertise in leadership facilitation and coaching built on a solid background as an HR practitioner. Karen believes strongly in the concepts of positive psychology and emotional intelligence, and incorporates these into her coaching and facilitation, helping executives improve their leadership effectiveness. Karen is a graduate of the ISL Leadership Programme.

Lindsay Somerville B.A., N.Z.I.P.P.

Programme Manager

Lindsay Somerville B.A., N.Z.I.P.P.

Lindsay is responsible for managing logistics for the Strategic Leadership Programmes. He also manages referrals and expressions of interest in the Institute's programmes.

Lindsay's background is in marketing, branding and operations in the electricity, tourism and franchise industries. He now operates his own business specialising in photography and marketing services and is the Institute's professional photographer.

With the professional grounding of a Clinical Psychologist Lisa’s energy is applied in the field of leadership development, innovation, and social enterprise. Her clients span multiple sectors and align around a wish to “make the differences worth making”. Lisa is a graduate of the Institute's Strategic Leadership Programme and a member of the Institute's coaching and facilitation team.

Paul Pringle LLB/BCom, Dip. Career Devt.

Paul is a leadership coach with the Institute which runs Strategic Leadership Programme for CEOs and Senior Executives. Paul previously worked as an employment lawyer with Minter Ellison Rudd Watts and inhouse with Police and the Department of Corrections. In 2007, Paul's passion for the outdoors and working with human potential lead him to a significant career change: becoming a leadership facilitator and instructor at the NZ Outward Bound School; a role which formed the basis of his experiential approach to coaching. Alongside his work as a coach, Paul is completing a Masters in Psychology at Canterbury University.

Polly Parker Dip PE, MPhil, PhD

Polly Parker Dip PE, MPhil, PhD

Polly is an ISL coach who specialises in career guidance and counselling, leadership coaching, and executive mentoring. She is accredited in the Team Management System, which she uses as a tool for personal and team development.

Polly also holds a position at The University of Queensland, where she is MBA Director and lectures in careers and human resource management.

Yvonne Sum Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Hons)

Yvonne is an experienced executive coach and motivational speaker. Her assignments span Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific & the USA with a diverse clientele that includes Microsoft, Nestle, GHD, Vodafone, Kimberly Clark, and the Malaysian Government.

Yvonne is accredited in MBTI, FIRO B, LSI, Neuro-Linguistics & Neutro-Semantics, and uses these instruments for executive coaching and team development.
